SURGE Saves the Day!!!!!
on: February 03, 2008, 03:34:56 AM
Today I was at my sisters house today playing cards with my brother in law and his friends.. I heard my 5 year old nephew screaming so I ran down stairs. He had a zip tie on his wrist so tight he hand was turning purple. So, I used the serrated blade and cut it off! He was so happy, he thought he was going to lose his hand! He was like Daddy I think I should get a Leatherman!

You're fired.

Get out.

Ah well, more power to anyone who wields a serrated blade fearlessly around children. Gotta keep the sprogs on their toes.

I'm intrigued how you were able to use a serrated blade to cut off a cable tie that was on so tight his hand was going purple?

Yeah,  that's a good question.  How did you get the serrerated blade underneath the cable tie?

My nephew is quite chubby thus I could slide the blade through and pull up.

I am glad everything worked out for you guys.As for the blade versus scissors, you used what you needed too.Looks like you were careful, thats the most important thing.

No one is a Hero with a Surge.

At best you "get lucky" - more often you look like an overeager weekendwarrior yahoo!

Now if he used a Swisstool, the zip tie would have jumped right off his arm in fear.

The serrated blade is blunt on the end,and the scissors are sharp,I think you used good judgement in a crisis.

Judgment does not have an "E" in it (and I do not give a damn what the dictionary or your primary school teacher says, they're both wrong)

and I thought the Surge scissors had rounded ends?

If he would have used the Swisstool, the kid could have lost his hand!  By the time he opened up the tool and picked out the serrated knife, the kid's hand would have fell off.  That's why he used the SURGE!!!  That one handed opening knife, and not having to open the entire tool, got the job done much quicker! :D

Opened up the tool? Unless you're talking about a model I've never seen Swisstools and Spirits have their tools on the outside.

I know that usually when I have a job to do all I have to do is pull my Spirit outta my pocket and the jobs completes itself for fear of dealing with the wrath of the Mighty Vic. No seriously, I'm not lying, why would you think that.  ;) ;) :D :D

I meant LM123 would have had to have taken the Swisstool out of the sheath and then used it.  I just asssumed that LM123 ALWAYS has his SURGE123 in his hand. :D

Well done LM123  :D Very good choice using the serrated blade , thats exactly what I would have done  ;)

Viking, the Swisstool blades can be deployed very quickly if your familiar with the tool .
