Finally got hold of an unmodified Rebar the other day (cheers again Steve), so can now have a play with the original head and awl.  Expect a video review some time soon. ;)

Cool, I look forward to your review man :tu:

Where's the "Multitool stuck in a post" or something like it thread? It deserves bumping. :D

You're outta here!  That's not a Rebar.  :td:

Sounds good to me.  :salute:

It's my least favorite anyway.... I'm considering renaming it to "Temporary Wave Scissors Holder"

I just noticed: the Shape of file has changed, it is different from the product photo on LM site. Looking at it reminds me the Crunch's file.
Crunch's file can be used as large flathead driver, I wonder if Rebar's can do the same.
Large flathaed driver is the one tool they remove when LM downsize ST300 to Rebar.

Actually they changed the file shape from the one in the picture. The early models of the Rebar have a longer file and the newer production Rebars have a shorter file now. Give me a few minutes and I will get comparison pictures for you.

I just noticed from looking at my first picture they changed the side that the washer is on the Pliers head.

You might also notice the terrible rivet on the older versions. (in between the file and blade)

There must be a reason they changed it, can someone post photo of Crunch & Rebar's file side by side?

My one has a washer on both sides of the plier head.

I just took the newer style Rebar back out and took a closer look and it appears to have washers on both sides of the Pliers head, but on the other side it appears to only have one washer. It could be possible that it is missing one by accident or I just can not see it.

Just realised I have both an old and new style file as well.  One other difference I can see is that the old style file sits at exactly the same hight as the rolled edge, on the new style it sits just a touch lower than the edge.  This means you don't get the teeth of the file digging into your hand quite so readily.

Of course that could just as easily be just a bit of manufacturing variation, anyone else want to check?

From those pics it looks like the angle the file teeth are cut at is different as well.
