I've always been facinated by these model's as they look like great user's imo (despite the serrations) but there too rich for my blood sadly, but I'd be keen to know if there are any user's out there and what you think of them? :)

I can't say anything about them. The price has put me off of them also. I do have the middle model (purchased off of eBay a few days ago) beating a slow path to my door as I type this. When I get it, I can use it for a while and give you an impression of it for you.

They look a little too odd for me, never mind the price. It's a bizarre hybrid of a tool.

It's a bit too "USB powered pencil sharpener" or "bowler hat with sleeves" for me

I take your point, that's why I'm wondering how well it works in the real world, as the blade does look like it get's in the way then it's in the closed position :)

I just impulse bought a titanium 2 off MEC for 79.99 which is not too bad.  It was on clearance price and I couldn't take it anymore!

http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/HikingCamping/KnivesTools/MultiBladeKnives/PRD~5025-828/wenger-titanium-2-knife.jsp

I think thats the same as the Ueli Steck, but with a wood saw instead of metal and no opener layer.   This is about the max Im willing to pay to satisfy my curiosity.

That's a super deal.  Hmmm

I'd love to know what you think about the mod-ability of this model.  I LOVE the handles.  I'd love a normal blade, and scissors in one of these without losing the bitdriver of course.  Or Blade, combo-opener, scissors, bit-driver.

A mod is exactly why I bought that one.  A normal blade and decent loadout would make this a sweet knife.

(Image removed from quote.)

Not to smurf all over your latest SAK but the back side of the scale that I can see through the nail cutout makes me think they are cast, sintered or metal injection molded which makes it yet another product that somebody stuck cheap titanium into as an afterthought like the Charge titanium scales.

But it's nice to see you playing with ti scales. I'm glad my sample got you hooked.

Note how the wrench(es) is marked with arrows so you turn it in the direction that won't close the blade on your hand.  What (curvy) nut(s) is it designed for?  I hope a technical climber will enlighten us as to function and actual utility.

Quick review of the Titanium II.  Overall, you dont want it, too expensive and feels weird.

Pros
- Locking blade that opens with the shield button, I just love this style
- Screwdriver bits lock in with a spring

Cons
- Blade wobbles
- Cast Ti feels cheap rather than 'high end'
- Goofy shape is very uncomfortable to handle
- Blade isnt even pointed

Not a keeper for me, its going on ebay.  Oh well it was worth a try.

Ya unfortunately this is a Ti marketing attempt, not a Ti because is an amazing material attempt.  Honestly I didn't even think about Ti being cast when I ordered it.  I assumed it would be like the Ti scales I got from you.  Nope, nothing even close.  It feels like a die cast cheap part.  You wouldn't know it was Ti.

The weird blade and cost makes it a pass for most anyways. Collectors only me thinks.

Thanks for posting the pics and details  :tu:

No I didnt use mine since it's now returned to the store.  The one feature that 'would' work as intended is easy to open with gloved hands.  The blade wobble was pretty bad on the one I had though, like the blade tip probably moved back and forth 5mm side to side.  That rivet was loose for sure.  That could be a one off problem though.  I think it might be 'ok' for its intended use, but there are better tools for that mountaineering type than this.

I just received the Titanium 2 in the door. I haven't taken any photos, but here are my first impressions on the knife.

It is different. That is certain.

I'm really curious to know if the blade wiggle was just the one I had, or standard problem.  Does your blade have any lateral play?

No wiggle on mine.

I am not all that enamored about the sharp edges on the handles. I would have preferred a more rounded edge. that is just personal preference. It does lend a mild sense of cheapness from the knife that is not commiserate with the price.

The blade shape makes using the saw a bit of an interesting endeavour.

Here are some photos.

The pouch is interesting in that there is room for 3 bit drivers, with only 2 filled. It is also make out of what looks to me like neoprene  (diver suit material). The whole thing is a bit stretchy. Another weird design feature, there is a cut out for the Wenger logo on the knife. Not sure why that is there other than decorative.

The knife itself is unique to Wenger. I got the Titanium 2 version which features blade and saw. The bit driver cutout is magnetic, and sucks those bits into place nicely. When I first opened the knife, I puzzled over how to close it, and noted a very large frame lock. It was only afterwards that I clued in about the Wenger logo used in unlocking the blade.
