PowerDuo Group Buy

The discussion has been ongoing for some time regarding a group buy on the PowerDuo. Our contact at SOG, Chris, has been sending me information as it has become available. It appears that both the Silver and Black PowerDuos will be available toward the end of July. He says orders are brisk and to get in on the first wave we will need to place our order soon.

Pricing for the Silver model will be $53.95, plus shipping. The Black PowerDuo will be $59.95, plus shipping. Our minimum order quantity is 12 pieces.

Rather than clog my Messages folders with pages of PMs, I will be setting up a preorder through The Multitool.org Store at EDCSource.com later tonight. Doing it this way should make it easier for me to keep everything straight and make shipping quicker once the tools arrive.

The way this will work is: Place your order, but do not pay. I will send an invoice with estimated shipping in a few days. I will leave the preorder up for a couple of weeks or so and post updates here so we can keep track of when we hit the required minimum.

Please post questions here or PM and I will reply ASAP.

Thanks Travis! I really like the look of this tool. I can't remember though are the silver ones with black scales and silver tools or both scales and tools silver? The black is an all black affair, tools and scales?

Progress report:

As of a few minutes ago, we have PowerDuo reservations for 4 Silver and 3 Black. Thanks to the guys who have posted pictures and links. I appreciate the help.

The question came up regarding International shipping. USPS Priority Flat Rate came up at $16.95. Depending on packaging, that may cover two pieces. First class mail came out at $10.46, but may vary depending on location. I have not estimated US shipping yet.(Since most of the reservations have been from outside the US, I figured I had time!)

For the guys who have paid already, thank you. I will contact you with shipping estimates when I have a better idea of when the tools will arrive. Those who have not paid yet, will be invoiced in a few days.

That's a very nice looking tool! I like the very fine point on the pliers, as most of the work I do that requires pliers tends to be for smaller, more detailed jobs... I'm very tempted, but I'm pretty tapped out at this point.

I almost want one of each to try and swap black scales onto the silver tool. I also really need scissors for it to be a valid edc for me. But then this is easily the most compelling new tool on the market right now to me. I'm gonna give this some serious thought. How long do we have to decide?

TheBullfrog - I expect to keep the preorder available until at least June 15. I haven't been given a definite deadline by Chris@sog. I will take orders as long as possible to try to ensure that as many members as possible have the chance to participate.

I am also planning to order a few extra pieces that will be available through the MTO Store, so members who may miss the preorder or decide to purchase an additional piece will have that opportunity with us.

After reading through the other thread on it, I'm sure it will make a decent replacement for my CX. Supersized, perhaps, but it seems like it'll do the job. I typically carried my Outrider along with my CX, and this tool should nicely fill the same role.

Any fully serrated blade options possible / available?

I already buy it, I found another action in EDC source, I believe first aution was closed but new one was open.
But I am still not pay it, should i need to pay now or wait an invoice from you Travis?
Please let me know if I have to pay it now to proceed.

I will be invoicing everyone who hasn't paid with a total that includes estimated shipping. Once the order is placed I will be invoicing those who have paid with their estimated shipping total.

The biggest thing right now is getting the order total together. Once I have that I will put on my "collections" hat.

I spoke with a contact at SOG this afternoon. I had hoped to have news that they were ready to take our money and would be shipping the PowerDuos in a few days. Unfortunately, I learned that the PowerDuos will not be available until the end of August. It looks like we and everyone else that's waiting for the PowerDuo will have to wait a little longer.
