Having a great weekend so far....

Due to a small emergency last weekend which meant I was putting in a lot of extra hours, I decided to take yesterday off and go snorkeling again.  I really wanted to try out my new flippers and I finally got a chance to- I really like them, but again, like last time there was almost no visibility so there wasn't much to see.

Today we got a short break in the rain so I decideed to pull the windows out of the Jeep and take my little Daisy to the beach where she had a blast runnign around and chasing a frisbee.



Tomorrow a bunch of us are taking our Jeeps out on a trail I have never been on, which should be a lot of fun.

Usually she stays at home and sleeps on the couch. 

As for how warm the water gets here, well on the other side of the province we have some of the warmest ocean waters north of Florida:

But, that's a bit of a drive from here.  The ocean water doesn't really get that warm, but it is tolerable for an hour or so.  Inland lakes ger quite warm, and the one I was snorkeling in two days ago is large, relatively shallow and is fed by natural springs, so it's warmer than most of the lakes around here. I have kayaked that lake many times, and the first time I got to the opposite end and saw water flowing out of it I was confused as water also flows out of it at the other end too.  It wasn't until later that I found out that it was fed by natural springs.

How was the trail?  Wish I could have made it, but it took me around 3hrs to change the alternator in the TDI.  I hate how little space there is under the hood on these things!

Yeah, manufacturers really seem to want to make things difficult for people nowadays don't they?  You missed a great day- I learned the difference between a Jeep and a submarine...





I got so far in that it took two Jeeps to pull me out!     The mud was up to and over the bumper on the front driver's side, so much so that I had to brush some of it away with my hand while trying to find my tow hooks under water!

My friend Carol-Anne took video of most of the recovery attempts.  My Jeep was so wedged in that Jeff's 4 door Wrangler just spun all four wheels when we tried to pull it out forward, then did much the same thing when they tried to pull me out backwards.  It was only after breaking a few straps and several failed attempts to pull it out that we decided we needed more power.  Of course since I was under water and stalled out there was no way I could get mine started again, at least not until we got it onto dry land- and even then I needed Jeff to tow me a bit to get it cranked over.

All in all it was fun, and everyone has a story to tekk, while I have a Jeep to clean.     We also had to pull James (orange Wrangler) up a hill after he got a bit too adventurous and couldn't get back, but I doubt that will get nearly as much mileage as Grant getting stuck in the drink.  Amusingly enough I don't think anyone even took pics of that, while there were quite a few photos of me getting stuck and 20 minutes worth of video trying to get me out.

Yes, I imagine I'll be hearing about this one for a long time yet.  There was another guy who got stuck and had to be pulled up a hill after he he went down and couldn't come back up, but there don't seem to be many shots flying his way.
