I'm MAD!!! If we had been outplayed, no problem, but like this?!? :ahhh

I didn't see any of the games today (was working). What happened?

Edit: the press here is talking about 2 penalties taken away from Croatia.

We were at least equal if not better at times but Stark killed us.

Been there ... I still remember Belgium vs Brazil in 2002, we made a legit goal but the ref called it foul >:( ... Still hurts when I think about that moment  :(.

Sadly enough it seems that some teams just have to make it to the final, even if that means they need a little help from the Fifa ...

Croatia deserved to go to the next round, that's for sure.

Well, the 2002 world cup doesn't even count: that should be one of the worst and shameful football tournaments ever! The host teams (South Korea and Japan) were generally favored by the organization and refs, which in turn were so bad that they couldn't even rule a local single vs married!

And, to be fair, Spain was the team with more complain reasons on the 2002 WC: not only they had two clean goals voided against South Korea, as later on the penalties shout out, the SK goal keeper moved way before the whistle.

Back to euro2012, today another incredible wrong decision: a clean goal taken away from Ukraine against England. Right in front of the side line referee!

Portugal went away after the penalties shootout.
Ronaldo could have settled it at the end of the 90 mins, then the spanish got the edge at the extra time.
This was the 3rd semi final for PT in the last 4 Euros (2000, 2004, 2012).

I really think penalties is a crummy way to decide a tournament... (even though I'm happy to see Spain move on) I prefer the NHL playoff format of play extra/overtime until someone scores...
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

And tomorrow we'll have the big game: Italy vs Spain.

All in all, I guess they were the two best teams. Italy made quiet a splash sending the germans home, and they just might win the cup.

Final note: the referee is portuguese.  :salute:

I'm afraid that's not doable for football. Sometimes the ball just won't get in and keeping the time running would eventually totally exhaust the players, causing them physical injuries. Furthermore the teams would mount an hyper-defensive strategy which associated to the tiredness would make the game stall. This kind of games have to come to a forced end, imho. It kind of reminded me old time boxing, where they could run over 100 rounds!!

I think, after they played overtime, they should take away like 2 players from both teams every 5 or 10 minutes, there's bound to be some room for a goal after some time ...  ;)

2-0 at half-time, they're trashing Italy... let's see how the 2nd rolls.

Not a good, quality wise, game but a huge score. Spain gets the 3rd major title in a row -- euro2008, wc2010, euro2012 -- and who knows when it'll stop. Just look at their bench: they have there players which could easily be first choices on others teams.

Also to be fair, Italy had bad luck with injuries which forced them to burn early their replacements and later ended with one player less for most of 2nd half. Even so, it was too much Spain for them this night. If the spanish had pushed harder they could go easily to a bigger score, I guess.

Well its over now! Until Brasil 2014 WC :salute:
