new linerlock?
on: July 23, 2012, 12:30:05 AM
hi all, today i  discovered a change in the sentinel´s liner lock, it does not have the bottle oppener/screw driver portion of the lock anymore, and the release portion of the blade is smaller, i really like that, now i dont have to grind the damn linner to match the aluminium one  :D  any idea of the date of this change? i´ll post pics later.

This would be interesting.  It would make the knife more comfortable to use.  We might see more models without the caplifter.

I was wondering of the liner for the Hunter XS was the same as the regular blade/cap-lifter layer.  I'll have to look at that carefully now, as maybe we have a few updates on this frame now.

You can see the difference between the old and the new linerlocks from the attached pics.
The new is much narrower near the thumb hole (A), and is invisible near the knife point (B).
The knives in the pics are the old OH Sentinel plain edge (0.8413.M3) and the new orange XS (0.8331MC9).

Nice find, and thanks for the pictures.

I was sleeping at the wheel. The US issue Green DD scales Hunter XT with Phillips also has the new liner for the blade; that was a little while back that we got those.

What I find strange, is the the second serrated blade on the XT and XT-XS has a larger lock release, this is not as critcal as the one for the main blade, maybe then intent to leave that one large.

This is a very nice touch, I like the improvement, should make use of the blade a bit more comfortable.

Now I need to check the Soldiers.
