I just started watching X-Files again

In the Pilot, Scully uses what I think is a Victorinox Classic to remove dirt from a guy's feet. No idea if this has already been posted:

am I right in saying Skully used a PST to remove something from an alien corpse and Mulder used something ( possibly a PST) while underneath a caravan or vehicle
