Cybertool Best method to stop bits falling out ?
on: August 15, 2012, 06:31:50 PM
Ok So whats is best method to stop the bits falling out when I flick the bit holder out ?

So far using a little clear tape  around each bit.

Great design but no so happy with the execution of the little spring loaded ball - seems V weak in my eyes.

Any ideas welcome

Richard

Do the bits fall out when they are inserted with the ball bearing facing a specific side of the bit holder?
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Mine fall out no matter how I put them in.  Ive concluding the bit holder just sucks.  What I THINK will be the fix for that is to drill holes in the holder and put magnets in on the sides to hold each bit.

I've tried this with some cheaper kinds of but holders. I wrapped the plastic in tin foil and hit it with a little butane torch. Heating it up just to get it soft, then pinching the tube a little bit to get a tighter fit. It's a trial and error but I got it to work.
Why stop now?

How about drilling a small hole through the side of the holder so there is something positive for the ball bearing to "clip" onto. Just a thought, never tried it, don't blame me if it goes wrong  :dwts:

Some interesting ideas, dont fancy the drilling idea though.
I think I will look for sone really strong mini magnets and use them to hold the bits better in place.

Anyone know where to get them from ?

Richard

I'm probably in a minority here, but I've never had an issue with the bits in my Cyber Tools falling out.

You can get small high power rare earth magnets at most any place that sells high quality torches and rechargeable lithium ion batteries.  I get them from a place called Lighthound.

I have several of these, and they work quite well as buttons for flat top Li-ion cells, but I've never used them for anything like a SAKs bit holder.
