Quantum DD
on: January 06, 2013, 08:34:01 PM
So I don't have this light (yet) but it has been eyeing me for so much, everytime I see a picture of it I hear a voice saying "buy me... buy me.... you must!". And I'm about at the point to give in to this voice - this forum is my last resort.

My... considerations are the following. I sort of have a decent keychain light already (OLight EOS I3) but - I would like to shrink my keychain. For the same price I could get a LM Wave (I own a skeletoolcx) so..
The other consideration is shipping and taxes, I'm sort of afraid I won't get it untill may due to customs. For reference I live in the Netherlands. Anyone has any experience with this?

I think Nuphoria got one for Christmas so she could give you some more info about it. I don't know what the customs regulations are for Netherlands, you could post some info about it in my signature line thread. You could ask someone in the US to forward it to you with a declared lower value and cheaper shipping it the shop only offers expensive international options. As for the flashlight or the Wave ... buy both. :D

Got one indeed, and really like it :tu:

As for shipping to the EU - just drop them a line explaining your needs ;)

That I don't know, because someone else ordered it as a xmas present for me! I doubt it was much over a week or two.

I've been buying stuff from abroad for a little while now, and never had any problems with customs... *knock on wood*

It is isn't it... Hrm, I just bought it anyway. Taking my chances with customs maybe I got to pay, maybe not 50/50 I guess.

So more than a month later I finally received the light. Customs charged me 20 euros extra, which is mostly administration costs, sigh. I ended up buying a D2 instead of DD because they were the same price with a coupon.

It's really nice and small. Sits nicely on my keychain looks amazing . I like that I got a battery recharger alongside. Biggest downside is that it heats up really fast when you put it on max output.

I'm glad you finally got your new toy. The heath is to be expected when you're pushing 100 lumens out of something this small. The heat needs to go somewhere.

Some Quantum siblings (DD = Raw stainless steel with split ring, D2 = black with split ring & Ti = remaining one) gathered together for comparison. The odd one out is the battery pod.

Weight in grams is sans battery but with split rings (DD & D2) and no Trit vials (D2) due to laziness on my part. The Ti version is in the order of 50% lighter with respect to itself.
