My guess would be a Climber. You can see the scissors and it doesn't look overly wide in the picture where he's holding it.

If it's a Climber, it's an older model without the hook? From that angle, the hook should be visible, and I can't make it out.

Good point.

The expedition was in 1986 though? When did the hook start appearing?

hook appeared in 1991 so I wouldn't expect to see it on this knife.

That is a super story.   I wish it had more details, like how long the person that found the knife used it, before it was returned. And of course we need more pictures, or at least the proper model number.  Maybe through the storry we could contact the owner and see if he would like to share more details with us.
