Peak El Capitan Dissapointment

I heard good things about peak flashlights so I ordered a black anodized aluminum El Cap.  Just arrived today.

First impression was very negative.  Look at how it came IN the package.  Is this normal or did I get a refurb?  No printed anything or markings on this.  Just an empty plastic case and the light inside?





The finish on the flashlight is horrid.  It looks like a bad fit up for the bezel AND alot of the anodize is chipped off.







Anyone else have any experience with these lights?  I'm going to contact their support email and see if they will help, but I was just wondering if this is typical?

Edit:  I'll add that the light does function perfect so thats a plus, but the head is in desperate need of some texture.  Very smooth and slippery and I found it hard to turn all the way to get the max brightness.

It probably isn't "normal," but Peak have been known to send out some like this in the past.  From what I understand they are usually pretty good about making things right.

Never had a Peak myself, but that's definitely something that shouldn't have gotten through QC in my opinion.

Send them the same pics you posted here and ask for an RMA and a replacement.

Never had a Peak myself, but that's definitely something that shouldn't have gotten through QC in my opinion.

Send them the same pics you posted here and ask for an RMA and a replacement.

Yup Im just composing an email to them with those pics.  When you impulse buy a new toy its no fun when you get a bad one...  >:(

Yeah, that is a drag... we've all been through it, one way or another.  Let us know how it works out.  (I feel sort of personally responsible, since I also recommended the Peak lights to you.)

I'll get it sorted out.  I tend to impulse buy stuff anyway without thinking.  Apparently there is a better site than the main one to buy from, now I know...  ??? That's what I get for not reading about them first.  The people over on CPF said they should replace it no problem though so Im not overly worried, its just a nusance.  At least Ive got a zebra light now. LOVE those lights, and will be buying more of them.

They did respond promptly and are shipping me out a new one, with a prepaid envelope to return this one.  Cant complain about the support at all.  He promised to inspect this next one personally.  I will update with comparison photos when the new one arrives.
