Best way to attach a Classic to a keyring?
on: September 11, 2012, 02:07:25 AM
Just got an alox classic in a trade, and I was going to put it on my keys. Then I realized that it would be much more useful if there was a quick disconnect so I could take it off to use it.

How do you guys attach a Classic?  If you have a brand name or link that would be most helpful  :tu:

A lot of people like to use Mcgizmo clips. I just keep mine on a keyring, but my carabiner lets me pull it out very easily.

I just use the attached split ring to attach it to my keys.
This is gonna hurt...

I like the looks of these, I've just ordered one.  Thanks for the tip!

I had a Streamlight Nanolight on my keychain and when it died I cannibalized the clip off of it and it is now used on my Classic for easy removal.

The best way IMHO is the Victorinox Keychain Coupler.
It has a quick-release mechanism that easily detaches keys from pocket knife.
I have it with my alox classic. ;)

For a long time I used the little plastic clips scavenged from lanyards on IDs etc.  Worked well!  Don't have any now... but it's not a big deal for small tool.

McGizmo No.1 for me... tend to keep most things on the keyring like that :)

That style is really common here for remotes and keyless entry!

Thanks for all the good tips!

I've got a couple McGizmo sizes on order, I think one of them will do the trick  :tu:

Black ones are very cheap from deal extreme right now. Also good for easily detaching your torch/car keys etc plus when camping you can clip the whole thing to a lanyard to avoid losing anything...

I tried a few different sizes of swivels and it's just not working for me.  :(

Another approach is just to keep it attached directly to the ring.  It takes about 3 seconds to remove it.
