ReVo no more?
on: September 06, 2012, 07:03:17 PM
So whatever happened to the Preon ReVo line? I'm more than happy with mine and (imo) they were the best AAA lights out there. Do any of our flashaholics have an idea as to why they seem to be no more?

Good question.  I'm curious as to what might have happened to them as well.  Not selling well perhaps?

IIRC, David from 47's said that there was issues with the supplier essentially stealing the design which led to sourcing the light being problematic for them.  They decided to discontinue it.  I believe there was a caveat that it could come back if the issues were ever resolved.

Also, I believe the Klarus X6 is essentially the same light as the ReVo.  Don't know if they are the supplier 47's had issues with, or just another vendor selling the same design from the supplier.

I may be remembering all this incorrectly, so take it with a grain of salt.

Klarus mi10 is the same light as the revo, almost the same body. Just no disco modes. 47s stopped carrying the revo a little after Klarus started making their own line of flashlights. I think olight/itp is the OEM for their preon1 and 2, and their. Mini line. The heads/bodies of the preons are interchangable with the itp a3, the 47 Mini has the same threads as the itp a2, ...

Hmmm... Reading the specs of the X6 it still seems to me that the ReVo was a better light; knurling on the body, similar specs and output but with two extra modes (s.o.s. and beacon), and ReVo had its modes in the correct order... ;) The Mi10 is indeed much closer to the ReVo, but 47 also did all those special runs (I managed to grab a SS Revo with the XP-G S2 emitter... plain awesome). I for one would like to see them coming back... :-\

Thanks for the clarification!

I found the thread where David from 47s tells a little.  I think I must've read a little into it.

They were the best in neutral tint and stainless steel.  I think I still have 2 of them.  Really thought these were the best AAA lights out there.
