Ah, I was going to say I'd grab a 10% share of this action. Still interested if you can squeeze me in or tack some more on.

Ok, after further discussion with the supplier, he feels the smaller barrels are not possible with 304 steel, and he recommends brass (at the same price).  Is this a good idea?  I know SAKs use brass pins, but they are not hollow.

What do you think?

He confirms the 3.0 M2 barrels can be in 304 steel, but the 2.5 M1.6 and 2.2 M1.4 need to be in brass.  Is brass strong enough?  And are you guys still interested if this is the case?

I currently use brass pivots in my Pioneer (all 3.0 though). Haven't had a problem until now.

Nothing ventured nothing gained  :) Although I will test the finished product. The local niche that I am modding for are using the SAK mods HARD. None of this "prized personal pristine possesions on parade" stuff and pretty pics that you see on most forums. I've learned the hard way that even the Vic cyberdriver will stress pins without enough layers to each side of the driver. I'm still in  :)
Yeah, you right...

You mean you tapped them?  I didnt realize you tried that.

The forces are all shear, there is almost no force on the screw head itself.  I mean I can assemble a sak and not ever put the screws in and it pretty much functions as normal except it would eventually work itself apart.

So as long as the brass was strong enough to handle the shear force it could be fine.  I dont know about the tiny 2.2 size, but thats what trial and error is for.

If you want to get really creative come up with some kind of cap/clip head that can be press fit on brass rods of 2.2,2.5,3.0 size and then you can just put in rods, file to lenght and press on the 'cap'  Ive see things like this before that clip on bar stock in those DIY home assembly kits, not that small though.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Ok, it's a go then. I'll contact the supplier in the morning about the order.

Tabasco, would you like your half sent directly to you?  His prior USA shipping quote was ~$24, so maybe 1/2- 2/3 of that would be my guess. Or I can bring it over next month.

He also told me fabrication would take about six days and shipping to where I reside another three days.

Fun fun

I had steel pivots as well as brass pivots machined. Both with M2 threading (not all the way through though).

Ok, the order has been placed and payment has been made. If everything is kosher I will post the suppliers info for future reference and if the deal goes sour ill post their info for future scorn. But it seems that the supplier is quite capable, we shall see though.
