Leatherman Fuse & C304
on: October 06, 2012, 01:35:37 PM
I have some tools and knives for sale to help fund my purchase of a Skeletool CX.  They are listed below with the amount I would like for them but I’m open to offers.  The price includes second class UK postage and Paypal fees.  Other postage options including sending overseas are available if needed.  As I’m fairly new on my Ebay user name is 8114stephen should you wish to see my feedback.

The Leatherman Fuse is in good condition and has hardly been used but does have some minor scratches on one side of the pliers.  It has spent most of its life in a drawer in a dry atmosphere.  It comes with a leather sheath that does have a small mark on the front where it has been caught.  The Fuse was bought around 5 years ago from a UK based website and I would like around £22 for it including second class UK postage and Paypal fees.  It does not have a box.

The Leatherman c304 Knife/screwdriver/bottle open clip combo is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear.  It can easily be described as like new, is around 5 years old and the newer version, Crater c33Tx costs £50 in the shops. It has spent all of its life in a drawer in a dry atmosphere and was very much another impulse buy.  It does not have a sheath just a metal clip that is attached to the side of the knife.  The knife does not come boxed.  I would like £22 which includes second class UK postage and Paypal fees.

The Fallkniven TK4 Knife is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear.  It can easily be described as like new. It has spent all of its life in a drawer in a dry atmosphere and was very much an impulse buy around four years ago.  It was bought directly from Ray Mears (his company) where it cost £120 and does have his logo professionally laser engraved on one side of the blade. The knife comes with a sheath that has never been used and this is instantly obvious when seen.  When the knife is presented in its sheath it would look like it was straight from the shop.  The knife does not come boxed.  I would like £60 for it which includes second class UK postage and Paypal fees.

I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Both the knives have now been sold.  The Fuse is still available which I'm open to offers on.

Thank you for the interest.

Missed the LM C304 - No worries there.

However, I thought there was an unwritten protocol here on MT.org to inform other members by by posting a "PM Sent" when dealing in the trade section.
Like I say I aint bothered I missed the LM  (there's plenty more out there) -It just seems a little underhand, for it to be done behind "Closed doors" so to speak. I guess it's a matter of principles, am I alone in thinking this.

I haven't noticed any unwritten protocols in the trade forum so far, I just make a post in the sales threads to inform the seller to check his messages.
From my POW there's hardly any "sneakyness" involved, since the early bird gets the worm.. :)
Believe me I've missed some pretty sweet deals being asleep or at work or....  :P

My point has been missed entirely - however "sneakyness" was far too strong a word to be used and has been removed from my original post.

My point here is that everytime I come onto MT'org forum -like most I scroll down to see if any "bargains" are to be had!
On most occassions the bargains have already been spoken for as we note the "PM Sent".

My beef here was that on this occassion there ws no interest shown in this item - And given that the seller was a new member, I thought it wrong for him to be left hanging - so I checked my emails periodically every hour or so.
Each time I checked there was no indication of what was going off. It's only when I received an email message alert on my itouch that I knew it had been sold. And that's fair enough. There are plenty more out there and it was in all honesty to be an impulse buy on my part.

You have obviously proved me wrong in my own assumptions here and that a "get it anyway you can"  attitude is quite acceptable.

So now, I know how best to conduct myself in future.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

I think the only two ways of "getting it any way you can" is either posting in the thread or sending a PM.. ;)
Either way it's entirely up to the seller how he/she want's to go about it, when the simple forum rules is followed. :tu:

Now let's get back to that bargain Fuse for some lucky buyer..

Absolutely no underhandedness or sneakiness done here as far as I am concerned.

I think an awful lot of deals are done privately & that is more than OK.

I think Mooseman has done nothing wrong & to use terms like sneaky & underhanded is well out of order.

Now back too Mooseman's Fuse  :think: I have 3 Fuses so I am good  ::) :D :D

"Downunder Mod (that sounds dirty, doesn't it?)"

Once again you've got me all wrong. I've already deleted that phrase from my original post!!
I aint blaming mooseman or the buyer and nowhere have I implied that.
This is all getting out of hand - next time I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

Like I said - I (wrongly) assumed that intending buyers informed others by stating that they were wanting an item (any item) in the trade section. I just assumed that the "PM Sent" was to inform others (not just the seller) just that, to make clear to all that they had/were reponding to the ad - thus preventing arguments/scenarios exactly like what has developed here.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.
