The Spork’s Weird History

An interesting and fun article @ Salon.com:

The Spork’s Weird History
The history of the humble spoon/fork includes shocking racism and sexism -- and a funny Bill Clinton cameo

Excerpted from "Consider the Fork: A History of How We Cook and Eat"

Alright, I've always had a beef with that thing being called a "spork"...

It's a lot more spoon than fork, actually, so I think it should be called a "foon".  I mean, come on, those tines are so freakin' small, what're you really going to pick up with them?

And, while I'm at it, why is a fork with three tines called a fork?  With three tines it should be called a "threek".  What's wrong with some people these days?  I tell ya... sheesh...
