per Gerber: A light coating of gun oil (on multi-pliers)

I was reading the Gerber MP600 Multi-Plier Tool "Instructions for Use & Maintenance" and that's what it says. "A light coating of gun oil" (on multi-pliers).

This make perfect oil since this black stainless steel model is made for Soldiers/Marines. I am not an oil snob. I have and will use any oil to lube my hand tools and knives. That is the key to me for maintenance and rust.

I use gun oil on all of my tools along with a final coat of Barricade.

Case in hand today I found an old Gerber 1st Generation rev.5 blunt nose multitool in my
fathers car well cleaning it out. He forgot he had it and I forgot I ever bought it and gave it to him.

He told me he never used it and to to keep it. Thanks dad I gave it to you anyway.

Gun oil it chases rust causing moisture and keeps under the car seat gunk from staining the MT.

Thanks for the honesty dad... At least it will go to use now;) gun oil is good. WD40 not so good.

WD40 is a great penetrator. It is good to clean, but not oil long term. Mineral oil is not bad to use as its human safe. Mobil 1™ synthetic oil is cheap and excellent also.
