Looking for specific tools in a SAK
on: October 18, 2012, 04:18:42 AM
I'm trying to look for a SAK with the following components:

-Philips inline screwdriver (the one on the back side will not work for me nor any 2 dimension tool that "could be used" as a phillips driver)
-Saw
-Scissors
-Toothpick
-Blade

I would prefer not to have any more tools than that.

The only I've seen from victorinox with all these items is the Outrider.  I think there are Wengers with what I want but I don't know too much about the Wenger models.

Probably the "smallest" Wenger with an in-line phillips, scissors and saw is the discontinued "Deer". You're probably going to want to talk to one of the modification speSmurfpillsts hanging around here.

The Outrider is a great SAK.  It'd be hard to go wrong with one.

I got the outrider, it's a little bit bigger than I would like (I was hoping for a 91mm or less frame), but otherwise it's good.  I didn't realize the philips driver on it was a #0/#00.  It works out better for my uses though.

That little phillips driver is extremely useful; narrow enough even to fit into most recessed screws in most of my kids toys and the like.  I've also used it as a marlin spike for getting bad knots out of cord and other things.
