Vic/Wen need help on a knife
on: October 18, 2012, 07:14:58 PM
Well i lost my knife  :( not that i need a new one but im after one that fits my edc, the one i lost  was a Vic Fieldmaster, great knife, the only thing that i didnt like is that fact of having two blades, and on the hook i thought it had a file, but didnt, so ive been thinking about getting another but i did some looking and Wenger makes one very close to what im after, its a little shorter then the FM, but thats ok, and the other thing is that is has the file! on top of that it doesnt have the hook, which i dont need, i was only after it due to having the file, and ive always liked the scissors on Wengers, but i hate there can openers, so which ones better a Wenger Handyman, or a Vic Fieldmaster? any suggestions? I will vote for Vic Fieldmaster because i like their can opener better than Wenger's, but also you may consider the Vic Craftsman. I have one for sell, in very good condition, in my blog.

To big, Im after something with just a Main blade, saw, scissors, bottle opener screwdriver, can opener screwdriver, philips, and nail file, everything else is too much.. JR

I've been carrying a Wenger Traveler as my EDC for years. The shorter length seems to fit better in a pocket. I prefer the Wenger can opener as its similar to the one on the old Imperial Boy Scout knife I grew up with.

Check with Felinevet. He may have used copies of both for less than the price of a new one. That way you can try both and see which one you prefer.

I had a feeling that answer would pop up pretty quickly... :D

It is the MTo way! :salute:

I'd suggest either a Wenger EvoGrip 18 in yellow,or an EvoWood 18(which we dont smurffing get here in the UK!)
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Well i went with neither, lol.. i ended up going for a farmer, nothing special, just a silver farmer. i have really started getting into the Alox, last X-mas my boys ended up getting a cadet engraved, and i even had a custom one made, but ive been wanting one a little larger that i can use as a edc and not worrie of scratching, so my wife bought me a farmer for this X-mas,  :woohoo: JR

Great choice! You cannot go wrong with a Farmer coupled with a Classic for the scissors.

The Farmer is the best off the shelf SAK available in my opinion. (I'm gonna duck now!)

I don't suppose anyone has a picture of a Victorinox Tinker (small) next to a Wenger 85mm tool do they?

I really like my Tinker small for office duties but wish it has scissors so was thinking Evo 14???

Thoughts.....

Regards, Jon.

Thank-you kind Sir, very good.  :salute:

The Wenger looks bigger than I expected considering a 1mm difference
