Some questions about Charge TTi
on: October 30, 2012, 07:49:29 PM
Hi there,

Do you admit a first question before I wrote a presentation ? I'm preparing some text for that.

Got some LeatherMan tools since 1995 (ST, Wingman, JUICE Xe6, ST300 soon) and some for gifts (Wave, Juice)

Looking for a Charge TTi, but here in France they cost a lot (up to USD260 whith some accessories)

* Can you tell me the main blade thin measurement (I suppose around  2 or 3 mm)

* Does the bit driver is as robust as the philips screw in a ST, I plan to use it for heavy wood philips screws, perhaps using the

* Are scissors usefull and suitable, or that's a gadget (Using on thin plastic, paper, nails, .. )

* Is the pocket clip secure in your opinion ? (for loosing the great stuff)

* Do you now a online shop in USA able  to ship in Europe ( nope in HomeDepot as in amazon.com)

Thanks for your opinions and advices.

No. Infact if you're only going to use a philips, i would advise you look at something with a dedicated driver. If you want the versatility of using other drivers, than the bitdriver is a good compromise. Get the shaft extender and it'll be almost as good as a dedicated philips driver(though you still wont be able to put as much torque into it)

Paper and plastic? fine. Thicker fabrics? Sure. Nails? Nope, but thats what the hard-wire cutters on the pliers are for.
I personally think the scissors on the PST2 or original wave are better, but the ones on the wave, charge, blast and fuse are still totally useful and worth having around.

Should work fine. Its not as tight as ones that screw into the frame like on the skeletool or freestyle. Just to be clear though, its an after-market item. It isnt included with the charge.

Try ebay. Odds are it'll be cheaper anyway.

If you want a dedicated bit driver look at the first version of the Leatherman Wave (the second version replaced it with a bit driver the same as the Charge).

The Leatherman Supertool 300 also has a dedicated phillips driver, and it has a bit more length than most (useful for recessed screws). The ST300 is a different style of tool to the Charge.
