Hi everyone, just a quick update with where I'm at now.

I found a guy who's willing to part with his new Surge for 55 bucks. That's a pretty good price right? The best thing about this deal is I'll have some date money left over to celebrate the end of finals. I'm pretty excited about this tool.

Thats a great deal.  And if anything is wrong with it leatherman will fix it for you.

Generally speaking, yes.

I carry both. The Surge is a bit too big and heavy for my belt, but I keep it in my coat pocket. The Charge TTi I carry horizontally on my belt, and I hardly feel it there. I believe many others have similar opinions.

The main reason that I prefer my Surge over my charge is the scissors.  The Charge scissors are small considering the size of the tool and they are buried on the inside.  The Surge scissors are big enough to handle most jobs and they are on the outside of the tool where they are most accessible.  That is why my Surge rides in my pants pocket on a clip where I barely notice it.

I've been carrying my Surge in the Sheath in a way that doesn't really bother me. I'll have to take pictures of my methods.

Still waiting for the pics sir.
I was reading this thread with great interest and finally got a Surge (it was a matter of luck, another got the TTI).
Yes, it is huge and heavy but I EDC it. One hand opening blades and the blade exchanger is a plus for me. Since I don't intend to be a LM collector, having one of the most capable and versatile is crucial. And my Surge doesn't rattle, although I was prepared so. Maybe they fixed it or just is a matter of tighter screwing in the joints, I don't know.

the Surge is my favorite LM multi. Nothing it can't handle. I wish LM would make one with sv30 blades and some of the other sweet stuff they put on the Ti or Charge.

I've got a surge and a older ti if i had too choose I would go for the ti, but for heavy duty work I use the surge plus like it's blade exchanger, both great tools,i actually like the surges size plus I've got big hands  :D

I know it's a little late for my opinion, but I chose the surge over the charge to and regretted it and got the charge. I love the charge best multi tool in the world

Just as an example of differing opinions.  I had a Charge AL then got a Surge.  I like the Surge so much more and now the Charge just sits on my nigh stand.

I probably will, but I will wait until I find a good deal on one.  There is no hurry because I don't use MT wire cutters very often and I only use the Leatherman tools in the blade exchanger.  But you never know, the new features could come in handy.

you can find the wave new for $30 to $40 on ebay and for $47 in the deals of this forum with flashlight and bit kit

you can find the charge tti new for $75 on ebay as well naked (about $120 elsewhere w/ random accessories). you can also find the charge al and alx for slightly less.

and i'm talking "buy now" ebay not bidding of course. you can get them for less if you wanna bid.. but .. meh.

the surge is harder to find that way because there's less demand so its hard to find in new condition under $60 (and it cost 65-70 new at amazon anyways)

hope that helps putting things into perspective money-wise :)

Personally i'd always go with the wave if money is an issue, else charge tti.. and if i was a giant i'd go with the surge.

If you only are able to get one, you probably want to be able to carry it in almost any situation.  The TTi is the obvious choice IMO.
