Anyone on a Watch Forum?
on: December 16, 2012, 07:09:32 AM
I have been getting back into watches lately and I would like to be a part of a watch forum. Do any of you belong to a watch forum? Which one is it? I'm sure just like any other forums some are better than others. What is the MT.org of watch forums? Thanks guys and gals.

I just googled watch forum and this was the first to pop up

http://forums.watchuseek.com/forum.php

Looks pretty busy from what I can tell.

Also, there is Time Zone and The Watch Forum which appears to be UK based.

Hope this helps  :salute:

I did the same. I was looking for someone with experience with a particular watch forum. I wan't someone that has a feel for the forum to tell me if it is a "good forum" or not. Thank you anyways.

Hi Captain

I have been a member of this (WUS) forum for the passed few years. I mainly frequent the G-Shock and Seiko sub-forums. As stealth remarked, it is a busy forum. Lots of good characters and a few dodgy ones too  :o.

What type of watch info are you after?

Cheers,

Pete

Thank you for the input on the forum. As for watches I have to say I am not very seasoned in them, but you have to start somewhere. I have a Seiko I have had for around 10 years that has been a great watch. It has never had anything wrong with it since the day I bought it. The only thing I have ever replaced was the battery. (Once) I also just bought a Wenger a few days ago and would like to do some more research on it as well as the Victorinox line. Other watches I am interested in are Citizen and Breitling. I don't see a Breitling in my near future, but I can dream. Anyways I am mainly in search of a forum to cover ALL watch brands.  :tu:

WUS  isn't too bad - big and mixed as mentioned above, but lots of decent knowledgeable folks and tons of buy/sell threads etc.

Here's the others I have used in the past:

I´m a member on Watchuseek, too.
Although i mostly lurk in the G-Shock section, I´ve pestered other sections with my Noob questions and only got friendly, helpful replies - No looking down on cheaper or quartz watches there as far as i experienced. They are a nice bunch and some of us are active over there (ZZed, New World)

and btw: Nice Wenger - It´s definetely nicer than the Citizen i could have offered as a trade. I´m still looking for an analogue watch to wear when my rugged G-Shock is out of place.

I'm a member at WUS, though I lurk more than I post.  To me, WUS is like the CPF of the watch world, tons of info and many knowledgeable people.  I don't feel that it is as laid back as MT.O, but really, what other forum is?  I also think the feel varies a bit by subforum, depending on who the mods are.

I am also registered at TZ-UK, though I've only posted 2 or 3 times.  I haven't visited in a few years, as my watch obsession seems to have passed, but I remeber it being a very laid back forum.  Probably the closest to the feel of MT.O.  The downside is that the breadth of watch discussion wasn't as wide as WUS.  This was years ago, so it could very well be different now.
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

There was a really good forum some time ago but I don't believe it exists anymore.  It was called g-forces.org or something and was supposedly all about G Shocks but the guys talked about other watches too.

Sadly I think they had some software and/or server problems and never got up and running again.

I was briefly on Watchuseek when I was looking for new one, they are good if you stick to the subforum of the brand you want, but in general section there are a lot of rich snobs who look at thousand dollar watches like popcorn.
