Juice Awl!
on: December 31, 2012, 01:46:51 AM
I tried this before but the grinding didn't give me the right profile. Since discovering the concave cutting edge awl, I took another "stab" at it. Made from the medium driver on a Juice.

My intention is to make this on my future ultimate BO EDC juice mod, so I can put keep the can/bottle opener.

Hey metro Excellent work as always.

here s mine

I modded my juice a few years ago with a awl cut out of the opener. It,s more of a alox sak style awl than leatherman . Its worked very well for me.

Love it. I really wanted to see if I could max out the capacity of this new mod, just waiting on the parts to come back from Syph when they get BO'd. I'll be making g10 scales for it too :) or 3d printing new ones...perhaps with some t&t, pen and mini fire rod action.

I quite like the bottle opener on the Juice even though the can opener is poo. Converting the middle sized driver is a great idea, and the technique is certainly proven on my Fuse-ilier mod. I've not done any "work" with it yet, but it's tasted wood and leather and handled them both very nicely indeed  :tu:

Drywall is an easy win too.

Nice! The Juice line is my favorite (S2 & KF4 in particular).   What do you plan to use for the pivot pins on your project?

Some 1/8" barrel knife making pins.

Just a small update, the juice awl did some fine work on a new template I needed to hang up in the shop.

I have been digging the s2 lately. The size is perfect for shoving in my pockets while working in the Skinth shop. The large flat bit is great for undoing the screw for changing needles and presse feet. The scissors are nice and sharp for cutting threads and the blade for opening packages and other stuff around the shop.
