Leatherman LBT (Lunch Box Tool)
on: January 30, 2013, 09:10:35 AM
Hi,

I had a plan for a while now to build a Lunch Box Tool. My lunch / breakfasts are usually small cut-up foods that I can eat while driving a train. Usually cheese, ham and a various fruits.

I love the Flair but a tool with a Cork screw is not to handy on the Railways. I usually carry my PST II or Supertool in my bag.

I like the PST, but it needs a scissors. I strongly don't like the PST II combo blade. And, neither has a fork or pate knife. So, if it is not available, build your own.  It took a while to get the Flair parts, the other bits I had from beater tools.

Tool combinations:
Must haves:
PST blade
Cocktail fork
Pate / butter knife
Can opener
Scissors
Phillips
Small flat head
Medium flat head

Nice to have
Second blade, PST II
Big flat head
Awl

I realized that not all these will fit in a PST carcass and had to choose based on the tool thickness and where the pliers head will close. I looked at the tool layout of the 3 original tools and came up with the following:

Side 1
PST Blade
Scissors
Medium Flat Head
PST Awl

Side 2
Can / bottle opener
Phillips
Small Flat Head
Pate Knife
Cocktail fork

All the tools fit in perfectly. I did not need a washer at all, which is nice. The pliers head is from the PST.

And without further ado, I give to you the Leatherman LBT:

Cheers,

Pete
