I have a Netgear and have set up many other brands for other people. Out of them all Netgear was by far the best and has been very reliable. I don't think I have ever had a problem with it in it's 18 months of use.
My Linksys has been a total pain for 2 1/2 years now. Resets almost everyday and as soon as it gets warm, it won't work without a fan blowing on it constantly.Maybe netgear is in my future.
I've had 100% reliability from the Linksys routers I've owned and installed. I really like the older models (WRT54G series), because the firmware is built off the Linux platform and thus is open source. There are some great aftermarket firmwares available for them that allow many more tweaks than the stock version.I have heard of some heat issues with the Linksys stuff, as Scibeer mentioned, but only if the unit was not allowed to breathe properly. As always, YMMV.
