Thickness of sak liners
on: January 29, 2013, 08:38:05 AM
Hi everyone

I would like to cut my own 91mm and 93mm liners from brass sheets.

My donor victims have not yet arrived and therefore I am not able to measure myself. But since I want to order the sheets already, I have to ask you guys:

How thick are the alu liners in the 91mm and 93mm saks and how thick should the brass be?

Thanks & greets

I use 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) thick brass, but that is thicker than stock but I do it because I like that look.  Stock 91mm liners are 0.028" (0.75mm).  Alox liners are the thinnest with 93mm ones are 0.025" (0.65mm).   I use 0.032 for all 93mm work I do, but 0.020" (0.5mm) for 84mm size.

Hope thats enough info for you to order something.  :D

Awesome!

Sorry if Im remembering wrong but was it you that was asking before about putting 91mm scissors on an 84mm but with the normal 2.2mm size pivots?  I normally drill them out to 1/8 for my mods, but im building a modern 84mm cellidor golfer and I just put together a standard scissors layer to work with the normal 2.2mm pivots and it worked great.  Im just taking pics for a writeup on it that I will post later today.

Cheers and please post any mod work you do, I love that the mod section here is so active now!

That sounds great!
I was able to score a 84mm scissor on the bay and I'm currently waiting for it to serve as blueprint.

I already have some ideas that are being worked on in my head. They change tool layout and frame size on a daily basis :-)

This is my first presentable mod: I call it 'The Machinist'
