Hi from UK / Africa
on: February 13, 2013, 01:47:20 PM
Hi,

Just thought I'd better introduce myself.... I'm from UK (found this forum via British Blades, seen a few familiar usernames on here :-) ) but I spend as much time as possible in Africa.

I've been travelling and fishing for over 20 years now, nearly always with a Leatherman of some description. I have a few Gerbers and a proper US Schrade Tough Tool but my go-to tool is normally the Wave.

I've lost count of how many Waves I've owned over the years as they normally end up with a deserving skipper or deckie, so I'm always on the lookout for bargains  :D

My personal collection in UK includes a Charge AL (it's in my range bag and has never even been used  ::) ) plus a couple of Gerbers and the Schrade. I also have a few Atwood tools and some keyring gadgets (my favourite being a SERE V cutter for taking zip ties off luggage).

Knifewise I'm a big fan of ZT stuff but I EDC a UKPK when at home and an Emerson Griffe and Pac Salt when in Africa.

Anyway, that's me. Looking forward to joining in on the forum!

Cheers

Dave

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Welcome Dave!

Where do you go in Africa?

I've been all over Africa (around 20 countries now) but most recently I've been spending a lot of time in the Guinea-Bissau / Senegal area, excellent fishing!

Welcome

Which Gerbers do you use?

Good question.... they're in one of my kit bags that are in storage at the moment, but I think they're old 600s???

** Edit, just remembered, there's one Gerber and an old Bucktool in then storage bag, not 2 Gerbers... Doh!

Cheers

Dave
