Any thoughts on the new Jet Beam IBS (AA) light?
on: March 29, 2008, 11:40:30 AM
I've looked at some beam comparisons of the Fenix T1 over time (pretty impressive) and have been surprised to see what looked like one of these lights up against JB's newest single AA in a press release. Obviously, the Q5 was being driven (I'm guessing fairly hard) by a 14500 Li-ion; yet if you look at even the Lux output comparisons between this light and the Nitecore Defender Infinity (my present favorite)...gosh darn it and damn the runtime...I'm really lusting after this much light from such a small package.

Is anybody else as intrigued as I am with this huge jump in output for a production light in this category...or do you feel that this series is a crap shoot at best given the circumstances(?).

Bought the Pro.
Will upgrade to the I.B.S if Jet beam keeps their promise as to a cheap drop being available soon and/or the circuitry showing marked improvement.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about it when it arrives!  I've owned a few JetBeams in the past that I've been impressed with, but these new I.B.S. models seem to be very well engineered.

Unfortunately, I didn't go after the Pro IBS model; as delivery has (apparently) yet to be determined. JB claims that a drop-in IBS circuit will be available at a fair price sometime in the future for the longer throwing Pro and am waiting to see how opinions of said circuit pan out before I jump in.
