Modders, What's in your Victorinox Spares Box?
on: February 12, 2013, 08:38:51 PM
I'm thinking about tearing down an old Ranger and rebuilding it with some modern parts.  Does anybody mod knives and end up with a spare wood saw (w/back spring and small screwdriver, as well as liners),  scissors (w/back spring and parcel hook).

Or am I just fooling myself into thinking that there is such as thing as a Spares Box?
If you can't fix it with duct tape, a hammer, a screwdriver, bailing wire, zipties, or a Swiss Army Knife, it's broken and irreparable.

I am quite sure i have a saw, but i must look if it was a blank spring or with the small screwdriver. PM me your address.
No scissor atm, but i guess you can find one here.

I'm sure a few Modders here have a good supply of extra parts. They should be here soon.  :D

I'd say modders who have been in the game for a while end up with a lot of the following: large blades, small blades, openers layers, corkscrews, backside awls, and phillips screwdrivers. Simply because they're common to a lot of different knives. Probably a lot of liners, bushings and regular scales too.

I'd say the most unused part of a donor SAK is the modern scissor spring that can handle the parcel hook. :D I have an army of them in my box. ::)

For me its the opener layer spring with the keyring part on it, and the corkscrew. I bet I have 40+ new corkscrews.  Maybe I can make them into a trophy necklace of all my SAK kills.

Well ALOX fans drink wine too. :drink: Maybe a bonus service for frequent customers. :D I used to buy a bunch of SAKs from a lady that insists on pairing every SAK she sells with a Classic so I had a bunch of spares to harvest 58mm backsprings.

Yep, I have a dozen or more classics acquired the same way. They gotta get rid of them somehow. The Classic is, after all, the biggest selling SAK so I guess it's the one most sheeple have confiscated at the airport too.

True for sure.  There have probably been more classics made than there are people in the world.
