TV - What's Your Dirty Secret?
on: March 07, 2013, 04:34:29 PM
Most homes have a TV, if not several of the things. It's a dirty habit, but most of us do it, so what do you watch on yours?

Got a daytime soap habit you want to confess to?
Which comedies flip your lid?
Drama... what interests you?  :o

Fantasy, Sci-fi, Zombies, Police, Ninjas, War stories, Documentaries... tell all here!

My current confessions are:

Magic City http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1832045/?ref_=sr_3
Stylish, sexy and a little bit dark.

Strike Back http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1492179/?ref_=sr_1
Men with guns at war!

Grimm http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1830617/?ref_=sr_1
Fun early evening, light entertainment.

Covert Affairs http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1495708/?ref_=sr_1
Female CIA action (watching Piper may be good for your health too) :D

I've got a much more extensive watch list, but these are my current ones :)

Your turn... :pok:

I don't watch much over the air TV (due to this being Spain, and well behind the rest of the world air dates due to the need for dubbing)... and we prefer watching everything in English.

The wife and I are properly addicted to watching an Australian renovation/reality/game show called The Block. It used to air here on cable (dubbed) but they had a few years hiatus after series 2 (2004) and we just recently discovered they started up again a couple years ago... we just finished blitzing season 5, and I have been gathering the currently airing season 6 for future watching. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Block_%28Australian_TV_series%29 )

I have a long list of regular watchings... but I'm seriously missing a proper Space based SciFi, not one of the earth based variants, which there seems to be entirely too many... where's the Trek etc gone from TV, has the  Battlestar Galactica reboot set the bar too high that no one dares do anything in case it may fail?

I am in the no cable services group as well. Been 5 years for me as well. I do however watch movies on occasion.

When I did have cable I was hooked on Ally McBeal

Hooked on Ally McBeal? I'd have gotten rid of my cable too after that!  :P

My viewing is pretty basic- Mythbusters, Big Bang Theory, Futurama, Family Guy, Robot Chicken and a funny Canadian show called Fugget About It about a New Jersey mafioso who gets put in the Witness Protection Program in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The wife and I also watch Walking Dead. We watched them all from the beginning about a month ago and now we just keep up with the new episodes as they come out.  Its a good thing those zombies are really stupid as the people trying to survive aren't much better.

We only watch dvd's on our telly - Big Bang Theory, US Office, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Community, Frasier, Peepshow, Mighty Boosh, Arrested Development, Torchwood, Dr Who, Buffy, plus loads of great movies. Not really guilty about any of those though......

I too got rid of my idiot box...I recently found out you don't need a TV licence to watch stuff online on catch up :tu:
So I watch programs the day after they are aired...QI, Have I got News For You, Hairy Bikers cookery show and anything by David Attenborough also any good films shown on BBC...think I'll watch The Killing Fields tonight ;)
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I should have said, 99% of what I watch on TV is not "on" TV ::)

I pick and choose exactly what and when with a "file" system ;)

honestly when my self esteem is a bit low.. I watch Jersey Shore..

I think how bad could I be if four of these clowns stand over a clogged toilet and have no clue what to do about it.. so they Crap in it for 2 more weeks of course..

or the use of lighter fluid on a gas grill

or this is how to start a campfire... green leaves and lighter fluid

usually I feel better after half an episode

Arrested Development was one of the greats.  I loved that show.

If anyone else is into adult cartoons you may want to check out Archer.  Imagine if James Bond was a drunken womanizer and that's Sterling Archer.  Oh yeah, and he works for ISIS, an international spy organization run by his drunken nymphomaniac mother.  :D

funny Canadian show called Fugget About It about a New Jersey mafioso who gets put in the Witness Protection Program in Regina, Saskatchewan.

What, that's supposed to be funny?  What's so funny, his "accent"?  NOBODY on the Sopranos had an accent, for the record.....

that show makes me realize how poorly natural selection is working...

On cable I watch some FamilyGuy, some House MD and need I say ... Top Gear (every episode), the rest of the time I just switch to National Geographic or the Discovery Channel and watch it from time to time while I'm reading topics here ... I like "Survivorman", "Dual Survival", "Wheeler Dealers",  "Gold Rush", "Mythbusters", "How it's Made", "Megafactories" and anything about Earth, Universe, Solar Systems ...  ::)

On DVD I prefer things like "The Big Bang Theory" and most of the BBC shows like "Blackadder", "Fawlty Towers", ...

So, most of the time the TV is on, but it's only when I hear something interesting that I look away from this place ...  :_c:

Edit: With "Top Gear" I mean "Top Gear UK"  ;).

I'm another for  living (nearly) idiot box free.  I have a 50" Plasma and use it mainly as a monitor. I have it hooked up to a media PC and it gets more use here on MTO than watching free to air TV.
I usually go through the week's EPG and tag a few shows to watch later but frequently delete them unwatched anyway. Top Gear (UK), Futurama, Mythbusters, Big Bang Theory...
Have been watching Elementary lately, but I suspect it may just be for Lucy Liu.  :dd:

I'd rather sit at my workbench crafting the next member in the Recruit parade than rot my brain watching soap's or "reality" shows.
