90th Anniversary Canadian Tire Tools
on:
March 12, 2013, 04:45:15 PM
Last year, Canadian Tire, a big box hardware store in Canada, celebrated their 90th anniversary. On top of all the usual stuff they produced, was a series of somewhat limited edition tools. Each set comes in a very nice wood presentation case with laser etched lids.
First up is the adjustable wrench. I could not imagine showing up at a garage with this in my kit. Canadian Tire Mastercraft tools are considered good quality and all that. Just a bit too showy for the tool chest if you know what I mean. This one is limited to 12000 units. In the grander scheme of things, I guess 12000 units is limited...maybe for a tool manufacturer.
Next up is the hammer. This one is limited to only 17000 units.
Next up is a tool set that does not have the limited certificate...but still is part of the 90th anniversary loot gang. It features the same sort of laser etched wooden presentation box. This one features a knife, a multi-tool, another adjustable wrench, and a multi functional screw driver. Yes, the bits include two sizes of Robertsons.

Does the wooden handle slide off the adjustable wrench? I wouldn't want such a huge handle for most applications, although if it slides off, it could be used as a cheater bar of sorts. The kit wrench has a more reasonable handle, imo.
The hammer looks very Estwing like. Does it say who manufactured the tools for them?

The pliers tool looks like a Ganzo.
The spanner looks flashy

Handles are permanent. No clue who made it for them. The MT does have very nice wooden handles. The tools aren't all that great...but I can't fault the feel of those handles.
