Victorinox or Wenger Wood Series

Yes, I know Wenger is going the way of the dodo, but I'm not that big a fan of the Evo scales, but just how well do the Wenger or Victorinox wood-scaled knives hold up?  I've been debating over one for a while now.

  Wood (pun intended) be curious as to how Victorinox differs from Wenger on how they attached the scales. Wenger, as I was told, uses a special 3M tape of some sort. Last I looked at my S557 it appeared to be a glue substrate or epoxy from the light reflection.



  From what I have researched, neither Victorinox nor Wenger have scale tools for their wooden scales. Have not seen any Victorinox nor Wenger replacement hardwood replacement scales either. Wenger's scales on the Blackout 63 are like that on my S557, where the liner is halfway recessed into the scale.

  The wood does can get dented or scratched easier than cellidor, and also requires an oil or wax treatment every so often. But that makes it the tool look more rugged. Wood is comfortable & welcoming, does not feel fake, & looks sexy with the metal knife.
