Could someone help ? (Bear Jaws)
on: April 10, 2008, 06:14:39 PM
I've got an email from Bear regarding the saw part I need for my non-locking Bear Jaws, but they only take telephone orders.
I'm uncomfortable making an order like this overseas, so is there anyone who would be willing to be a middle man for me ?

I could repay you the full cost, postage, etc, by Paypal, and add a bit extra on to cover your trouble.

Please let me know if you can help, cheers.

Update: I called Bear and placed a credit card order for appletree_man's saw blade the very next day. The gal on the phone seemed quite pleasant, although a little confused. I got the impression that Bear isn't really set up for retail orders over the phone. Anyhow, that was three weeks ago, and no saw blade has arrived yet.

I'll be giving them a jingle on Monday. :(

That's roughly the time it took for my orders. I got the wrong saw blade on two tries (oddly, the other tool parts were correct ???). I ended up cutting the Super saw down to fit my standard-size tool.

Well shiver me timbers it finally arrived! After 5 weeks and two phone calls I'd pretty much given up on those ninnys. :P Again though, it didn't seem like Bear has much of a system in place for taking parts orders over the phone. Must be they are accustomed to working through distributors.

In any case, the saw blade will be winging its way to appletree_man shortly. :)

That's a good looking saw blade!  Has anyone used one of Bear's wood saws?  I'd like to know how well it performs.

They're incredibly aggressive in green wood and make good camp companions as a small saw. Because the teeth are somewhat thin and long, I've never tried them on anything tougher than a 2X4 for processed wood. They are about twice as thick as the Leatherman or Vic saws.
