Yet another new multitool convert
on:
March 31, 2013, 10:44:13 AM
Hello everyone from yet another Yorkshireman
Having discovered the addictivness of multi tools recently I've found this forum full of useful info. I had a Blast bought as a present recently and to try to comply with our current legislation have removed the blade. I use this tool as my EDC along with the bit kit and a Sak mini champ. I do like adapting tools to suit my needs but like a lot of you I find it frustrating that parts for Leatherman tools due to their excellent warranties are almost impossible to find. Somewhere (in leathermans cellar?) there must be a mountain of broken tools just waiting to be destroyed. Shame they don't have a bargain bucket!

'Ey up from Sheffield. What did you replace the blade with on the blast? I have a fuse which I removed the blade from and replaced in with a file also removed the plastic spacer to get a saw on there ( both from a blast).

I came across a small plastic spacer in my junk box. Filed it to size and so far it works perfectly. I'll probably think of something to replace the space with. I wonder if SOG accessories like the 1/4" drive can be made to fit?

G'day & welcome mate
Yep the Leatherman factory did have a fair amount of 'damaged' tools for use as spares, it would of been fun to load up my back pack & nab a set of Leatherman fastener sockets as well

The drive is too thick to replace a knife. Sog parts do fit in the blast, fuse, kick line up with a little dremal work. I had a sog file in my fuse until a donor blast was sourced.

What is it about multi tools that owning one is never enough. The Blast does most everything I need but I can't help but think the Wave may do it better. Or maybe the Charge ...or the Juice ... Or even a SOG! Perhaps the present of the Blast wasn't a good idea!

Progressed from a 350 to a Guzzi Breva. Still have a soft spot for the Morini but spent too much time pushing it home. Italian electrics leave alot to be desired. Since the eyesight started to fail and speed bumps appeared everywhere, I decided to hang up my helmet and stick to 4 wheels.
