Anyone played around with the newish 1xAA DC ( daily carry ) light . The Black version is HAIII .

My previous experiences with Mallakof dropins . in Mag's and Surefires has been good .

List price is $99.00 , but I'd rather the US economy than that of the PRC .

Can you be more specific about what product you're referring to?

It's Gene. Mallakof's take on a 1 x AA EDC light . It has a bezel down clip , no knurling , just longitudinal flutes . One rendition is HAIII , other versions are done in colours . It's a clicky that comes up in high ( round about 100 Lumens , low being about 5 ) . From the look of the pics , it should be able to tailstand .

Gene.'s stuff has always been well respected for quality . I would be inclined to believe the output figures .

It has a very similar brother , that's 1xCR123 .

Seems awfully big for a 1xAA light.  I don't care for high first UI's either.

That said Malkoffs do have a deserved reputation for quality and durability.

I prefer hi first , two out of three of my EDC's are set up that way . ( Surefire E1B , Novatac 120 ) My other EDC is a piston drive , so what you get in momentary depends on how hard you push the piston , to get maintained output - twist head .

Since I have Cartoon character hands , I prefer a bit of extra length . This is basically why I don't get along too well with 1xAAA lights .

Another typical operation where I prefer Hi first - skunk inspection prior to letting the dog out for a pee . The old girl also recently killed a rabbit , which I would rather avoid .
