SOG S69W
on: April 21, 2013, 07:05:46 PM
I just got back from Lowes and picked up a SOG S62. I had one of these about a year or so ago and sold it. I thought they had updated the tool and put guards around the gears, but apparently I got old stock. The main reason I am posting this is because I was about to order a S69W from Amazon, that has these guards and a few other changes, but I noticed that according to Amazon, the tool is now made in China. Is this true? Has SOG sold out and are now making their current tools overseas? If anybody has a S69W I would love to hear from you! I can live without the guards around the gears, but will not spend $60.00+ on a Chinese multi tool. My reasons are not political, but I have learned from experience that as soon as these companies start making these things overseas, the quality drops. I stopped buying most Gerber tools a few years back because of this. The only exceptions I made were ones that cost around $20-40.00. I guess I could always return it, and it may be a typo, but would like to know before I order if possible. Thank you!

I guess nobody has one! This is a Powerlock model, by the way. I tried changing the title of my thread, but apparently there is no way to edit your own posts on this forum!

This is the one I am referring to here:

http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Specialty-Knives-S69W-Multi-Tool/dp/B008OF3KZU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1366712064&sr=8-2&keywords=SOG+S69#productDetails

They also are showing a S69N. It looks like the Powerlock I got at Lowes (S62), but has two Phillips screw drivers, one in each handle, and it has the guard over the gears.
