Bezel use?
on: May 03, 2013, 03:15:11 AM
While running an errand yesterday I parked at a meter and put in all the change I had on me, which meant I had all of 18 minutes to accomplish whatever it was I was doing.  I have an app on my phone that not only keeps track of how much time I have on my meter but also marks the location of my Jeep on the GPS so i can always find my way back, but I didn't even think of that.  Instead I looked at my Orange Monster and twisted the bezel to 18 minutes from then and went on my way.

This got me to thinking that about the only time I ever use the rotating bezel on a watch is when I'm parked at a meter, and I wondered whether anyone else ever used the bezel to time things, and for what?

Timing Pasta or work events (emptying overflow tanks, but not fully for example), contact glueing, boiling eggs...

Nowadays mostly done with the timer on my Casio DW5600E, but i used to use the bezel on my Divers quite often.

I use them all the time... cooking, when to take pills, all sorts. I tend to opt for that if I am wearing any of those watches over using my phone as a timer :)

I like the simplicity.

Never used. I mark my time mentally. But as I grow old I might start using it.

I once used it as a compass.    Killed that watch while kayaking years ago and none of my current watches have it so no recent uses.

Cooking.  The alarm on the microwave is never loud enough to be heard.  Really useful in that function as well.
