Picnic and Camp Sets.
on: May 08, 2013, 12:47:24 PM
I have a soft spot for Victorinox kits. When I came across these two on eBay, I just had to have them.

Both sets feature a Victorinox Waiter. Both kits also feature a very large belt carryable (but who would) sheath.

The 3 piece set is the Picnic set. This set contains a Waiter, a cute little water bottle, and the sheath.

The 5 piece Camp Set contains a Waiter, the sheath, a 3 1/4" spear tip paring knife, a 4 1/2" round tip paring knife, and a spork.

Both sheaths are identical to each other. There are plastic inserts for the two paring knives to make it safe to sheath them in their respective berths. With the picnic set, you could add two knives or some chopsticks to fill up those empty spaces on the sheath. I still can't see anyone carrying one on their belt however.

A little Leatherman information.

Nice find!

Unless you like dining alone maybe an extra spork will be nice.
You have 3 blades in the set but only one spoon and one fork.

Or maybe it is designed for romantic couples sharing a fork....   :dd:

Cool, I had never seen that water bottle before!

Here's another set, with a serrated Spartan:

You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Nice sets!
I have the picnic set with the serrated Spartan.
The pouch in my set is different (probably older).
I'm attaching an old picture.

I have one like this set but am disappointed that Victorinox did not mark the spoon and fork with their logo or stamp.  :-\

That looks similar to a Wengerinox set of fork and spoon that is marked and has 58 on it I suppose for the year of issue maybe. The seller had some old standard issue knives too. Doe the fork and spoon lock together?

If I remember correctly that is exactly the shop where I bought my set.
The fork and spoon do not lock

Does Victorinox actually make the Spoon and Fork?

These are some quick shots made by my web cam of the Soldier spoon and fork set marked Wengerinox and "58". Not sure if it is official standard issue to the soldiers at that time but it sure looks like it. The slot and peg look unaltered so it would only hold the 2 utensils. Sorry for the poor photos but I am again having camera problems. Will soon be borrowing my wife's camera.

They are official issue and most seem to be made by Wenger

They are the only 2 utensils required as the army quite famously also issue a knife  ;)

I will post my 1966 picnic set later :)

Finding a 66 fork and spoon was harder than finding a 66 knife
