Multitool engraving.
on: May 11, 2013, 12:33:08 PM
Hi guys.
I'm thinking about making my Surge a bit more personal (especially with the new one coming out soon).

1. What do you think:
-simple "Matt" (a bit too simple I think).
-something smart and deep like "don't eat yellow snow".
-name the tool like "The destroyer".

2. Any advice on the engraving itself? I wouldn't want to see somebody making a mess with dremel. Laser engraving? What are my options/costs.

Big thank you for any advice.

I think the best option would be to bring it to your local jeweler for engraving.

Here are a few random tool quotes taken from the net. The Quote option would be something special..but more costly as you tend to pay by the letter in most cases. Locally, this is an expansive option. Maybe it is much cheaper in your area.

"Man is a tool-using animal. Without tools he is nothing, with tools he is all."

"We become what we behold. We shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us.”

"Accept yourself, your strengths, your weaknesses, your truths, and know what tools you have to fulfill your purpose.”

I would suggest something more classic. I would choose something Greek (such as Homer's -not Simpson- "Αἰὲν ἀριστεύειν καὶ ὑπείροχον ἔμμεναι ἄλλων" -> always strive for excellence and prevail over others) but for you Latin might be more suitable. What about: "DVM VIVIMVS VIVAMVS"?

Some day will get this, if can find an engraver that can so past 8 characters:

'Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel.'

Why not "Stolen from Matt"

Or "give me back you wreched creature" :)

My favourite would be " If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs..." but I don't think you can squeeze all that on a Surge...
