Man down
on: May 10, 2013, 06:30:26 PM
Before you judge the title, its how he would have wanted it.  Wherever he is he's laughing at it.

A good man is gone at 28, a friend and coworker here.  He was found in his apartment yesterday,  and we don't know what exactly happened   I only knew him for a few months but everyone else here knew him for years.  He had gotten fired a month ago from here and the owners are a wreck now.  Please pray for paul and everyone here where I work, we are all hurting pretty bad.

There has been several similar things in the news here in Spain, people who have lost their jobs, and after several months of not being able to pay their mortgage, about to be evicted. Feeling there is no hope left.

It's a sad thing.

I'm sorry to hear this Sean.  :(  28 is just too young.  Sadly I've lost friends around that age, younger and older to things like addiction, mental illness, etc.  Never a fun thing for the people left behind.  My prayers are with his friends and family.

Thank you my friends. Today was a weird day, none of the owners or bosses were at work.  Those of us who were didn't do much.  There is a memorial tonight for him that I can't make it to, but the funeral is tuesday at 1pm and I will definitely be there along with our whole shop because we are shutting down that day.

This is so hard for me.  He was fired shortly after I came to work here, in part because he missed a lot of days and I was able to get more done than he was so they gave me his lathe and demoted him.  He was fired two days later.  I'm feeling a huge amount of guilt , its made me physically ill.

You can't take that guilt on yourself.  Sometimes people have battles that they were going to inevitability going to have to face and fight, win or lose.  It sounds like he might have been in the fight before you came along.

Electric Theseus if I may say so. A very nice live rendition of a 1987 song to purge some grief:
The original version if you are interested. The  video starts in 1967:
Omnia vincit amor. Vae victis.

Thank you for the links.  It has become known that it was self inflicted, though whether it was intentional or not remains unknown.

Ok so through the muck we finally found out paul died in his sleep.  I don't know who started the misinformation here but it wasn't true.  The service was beautiful and we left with fond thoughts of him.  Its a beautiful day.
