presenting my saks and a question
on:

Hi. I have been collecting knifes for a long time but have only a few saks, else if everyone has a special meaning to me. Most beloved are the ancient camping I have since I was fourteen (more than 40 years ago, unfortunately) and a voyageur i bought in mid 80. Recently I had been fascinated from the Uely Steck Ti scales and bought one thinking it was possible to swap the blade with a common shaped one. The guru modding I mailed the question did told me he was not interested and having found the drowing of the blade I understand that there are no other swiss blades compatibles. The only way so would be having a blade expecially forged (this is not impossible and it could be made in damascuss too
, eventually I know a smithjack ho ask about). Then it need to drill the pivot rivet and may be all three ones. Did anyone other had lucky ibefore me in this mod, ore have anyone suggestions?

Welcome!
I'd like the Ti scales with a normal bade and Vic Scissors too; sort of a special voyageur, but must retain the bit driver operation. Let us know if you do anything with that.
Interesting collection; is the Black one bottom right a Browning, or somthing else?

Hi IcanFixIt, the black one is an Italian model with with advertising of Pirelli Tires (will post a pic soon) on the other side. It's been produced in maniago in 60-70 years and commonly named as "Duca D'Aosta" from the personal equipement of Amedeo D'Aosta during his expedition to North Pole. There are plenty of this kind made in Maniago (mainly with bones scales) wich was a small town foot of Alps that produced knifes for Italy and Export (firts scissors and screw bottle openers of Victorinox where tought to be made there, in maximum secret
. )
Here other different knifes I collect. This are all blades coming from agricoltural and shepperds world in mediterranean area (from ItalyJugoslavia, Grece, Turkey) wich have some common features like carbon hand forged blades and mouton horn handles. Very light but terribly sturdy and letal items else without any retaining spring, like Pattadas. Bought them by myserf while travelling all' over the area in motorbike or scooter in 1970. Hope you like

one good point about the Uely Steck-Wenger is that it seems to come as a real techical project. Appart the Ti scales all' linners are inox, not alu, and the pivots does not show as softy alu or brass but bronze, wich is a self lubricating and harsh environment friendly metal. The bit slot is not simply carved in the handle but there is a special dent in the blade spring that is meant to hold the torsion made by the bit's. Nevertheless the knife, at least in the conformation I have, is terribly light. So it appear to be a good and trustable tool not only on mountains but also in marine environment. Only the blade shape is so ugly that I would sacrifice the bolts slots for a better shape.

Very interesting collection of different blades you have there. I'd love to see you post a thread about the "agricoltural and shepperds world in mediterranean area" knives you have there. Maybe in the
Edged Tools
sub-forum.
And welcome to the forum if I haven't said so already.

Hello, your Victorinox Alox Voyageur is in nice shape and worth a bit of coin. Could you open it up and give us some closeups?

I am having some progress in the Ueli Steck mod. Can anyone give me a font for a buyng the screwed rivets (hope this is the name) to make it full demountable? The original rivets appear to be 3mm (same measure for all) and the thickness is 1 cm or barely more (11 mm).
