D&D Gamers: Neverwinter Open Beta?
on: May 27, 2013, 09:15:50 PM
So lately I've been pretty scarce around here, one of the reasons is my sister pointed out that the new D&D PC MMO game has gone Open Beta, and is free to play... and I'd weened myself away from WoW and tried my best not to get hooked on Star Wars the Old Republic... and then this comes along:

http://nw.perfectworld.com/

rather liking it for the most part, with the exception of perhaps a bit frequent (lengthy) downtimes for server updates...

plus a webgateway for checking on crafting progress and auctions... https://gateway.playneverwinter.com

 :ahhh :ahhh

I think I'm hooked again!

If it makes you feel better I can edit the database so that the first post is Kirky's  >:D

I bet kirky donated money to the games kickstarter. He seems like that kind of guy...
Shame on him for feeding our addictions!

I have Faral Hawklight@catsofulthar - currently level 43 Devoted Cleric who desperately needs a total respec, but I refuse to pay... was my first character... trying to gather enough Astral Diamonds to trade for Zen for the respec. I'm also partially hoping they reset skill trees... meanwhile building up my crafting...

And Nyarlathotep@catsofulthar - Level 26 Control Wizard my current play character... progressing much better...

As it is a beta shouldn't they let you respec for free?  Rather odd if you ask me.

yeah, I feel the same way... if you get one of the founder kits you get a free respec token.

It's pay for nearly anything special. I have some nice stuff, but it's clear my higher level character is out of wack as I can no longer advance on quests meant for my level without immediate death. I suppose I could wrangle in some help, but so far I've avoided coop/pvp as they aren't really interesting to me, coop only if it was with people I know.

Getting away from WoW was easy.
Its called Cata then MoP sealed it for me.

As for DnD. I migh t give that one a try. Used to play it on paper.

How is MoP?  I never really got into Cata, and have missed the MoP stuff for good.

They fixed somethings like the CC in pvp and changed up some of the raid and dungoen mechs. The pandas are kinda cool, nice throwback from the ealier games. Big problem is the iLvl jumps. Really bad in pvp. Still running into problems with needing 5 dps to try to take out a healz. There is no feel to the new expance if that makes sence. WoTLK was grand ,epic, cold and a sence of doom. Don't know how the new patches have changed or fixed things, I gave up on it months ago.The biggist problem is not so much  the game now as it is with customer support. Blizz has went downhill since Activsion got a hold of them. My account got hacked months back, nobody will talk to you and seems the only way to deal with them is by email. Now they want me to send them a form of state id, my first born and an arm to fix my account and get it unlocked. So I am going to leave it locked.

WoTLK is still the best.

I stopped playing WoW in Cata as well, never made it to MoP. I had friends that ran the Guild I was in, they split up, I got a new job, and it seemed like I was only logging in to do the same batch of dailies every day on my own and amassing gold for no apparent reason. I figured it wasn't worth the monthly fee anymore.

^ my main WoW toon

In Neverwinter I seem to be making some progress and finally got past the instance/boss I was stuck on... few quests and levels on and I'm stuck on the next major boss/instance, I checked it out and I'd need to spend at least ~10$/euros to get enough Zen credit to fix my skillsets... Seems like it's pay for nearly anything useful. In the meantime my other character is catching up fast, making great progress and has a much better skilltree setup.

(toons now lvl46 and lvl30)

Well Open Beta is now over, and I believe the game is fully launched.

I got a founders kit before it went live and now have some nice gear to help progression... It also included another character slot so I now have ~lvl: 48/60/17... on the go.

There is PVP, I haven't gotten into the PVP side, mainly just PVE. I have read that playing PVP is a good way to get better gear faster... but it just feels like Unreal Tournament getting repeatedly shot in the face by a 10 year old to me...

All my characters are on the Beholder shard (server) if you want to be on the same server...

Now 50/60/17 (60 is the current max level). Feels a bit low after WoW.
