Tried Out My Roselli
on:
February 11, 2015, 11:36:06 PM
Took the Roselli to my cabin this past weekend, and chopped a bit with it. Interesting axe. A bit of a learning curve, but worked well:
The head is so thick, I figured it would split well. It did, but the shorter handle made it a bit inconvenient:
It feathered well. Well, if I could feather that is, haha. It's basically like using a scandi grind knife:
The bearded head allows you to get your hand behind it:
With my 11, and one of my flint strikers:
Pretty cool axe. I'm happy with it, and glad I got it.

Great pics, and glad to hear you're having fun with it
when splitting longer stuff you can either use wedges or try splitting them from the side (laid flat) instead of splitting from the end. Keep playing with it and you'll get more in tune with how to get the best from it

Nice I like that one alot!
Ive been close to buying one of those a few times, but then the whole need and want concepts battle it out in my mind and I keep waiting. I love how much you can choke up on the head for fine work, so I'd love to have one to play with.

I wanted to get into carving bowls and spoons, and wanted this for making blanks. I haven't used it for that yet, but I will. I've made a few spoons. Very relaxing hobby.

Neat! In addition, on Viking dress up day you have a great wardrobe addition or if the zombie apocalypse really occurs you have a great head splitter (no wedges needed).
