Can't get enough of the Raker Ring Tool- literally
on: April 22, 2013, 03:42:17 PM
At work this morning we had a job where some product needed to be disposed of- I can't go into details since the job is fairly hush hush which is why there's no pictures, but it involved cutting plastic strapping off many cardboard cartons.  My boss offered his K.E.R.T. (CRKT version) for their use in cutting the straps and it just ripped through them like nobody's business.  He raved about how good it was, and ended up taking the K.E.R.T. off my work lanyard too!

Good thing I have a few spares as I don't imagine either of us will see those ones again!  :D

It turns out that while the Ring Tool (KERT) was a great strap cutter, the repeated cutting was a bit much and we resorted to Benchmade Houdini Pro/ERT-1's for it's better ergonomics.

Still, with the smaller, more manageable size and better cost, I'd stick with the Ring Tool for EDC unless I was cutting that many straps (think thousands) on a daily basis.

I can say for sure this tool works well. I only used it once (accidentally) but it did work.
