Are there any 91mm SAK's with a nailfile in the place of the small blade?

Like a 91mm Sportsman, or a Climber with a nailfile?

Thanks.

Sam

Regretfully not. There's a sort of a nail file on thee back of the hook of the 91mm Compact now.

Not officially. There's probably some mods out there somewhere, though.

This really should be addressed by Victorinox as there have been enough interest in a nail file tool on larger knives. It does not seem that it would be that much to accomplish it.

Then again maybe they figure the metal saw file tool is enough??

Syph007 did add one to the 93mm frame a few days ago.

Is there a 91mm like the camper except with a metal file instead of the saw?

Yes, there are 3 models, but all of them are discontinued and quite a bit more expensive than the Camper.

I think the easiest to find at a good price 3-layered 91mm SAK with the metal file would maybe be the Trail Guide.

Or you could go with the 4 layered Mountaineer that adds the scissors layer. Still in production and can be had used for a good price. I saw a couple on edcsource.com recently, not sure if they are still there.

Maybe Victorinox could replace the package hook with a nail file? Would certainly be
more useful.

My compact has a file on it, but the file is not so great. Ideally, I'd like to see a 91mm Tinker or Climber with a nail file substituted for the small blade. My next preference would be a Camper with the saw replaced by a metal file. The automobile special looked interesting, but I'd lose the corkscrew... The trailguide doesn't have dedicated can/bottle openers. I know... picky, picky...

If I'm correct, I believe the discontinued long nail file was on the scissors layer

Another one would be the handyman, but then your switching over to Wenger, and back down to 85, but you get the file and loose the corkscrew and get the Philips, JR

If you don't mind going to 85mm Wenger, you basically have:

Tinker with nail file substituted for small blade:  Highlander or Evo 11

Climber with nail file substituted for small blade:  Traveler or Evo 14

  • I'm an Adult?!?! When did that happen?
The other option is/was the old square backtool Phillips which had a nail file on it in some models.

If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Look here: http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Climber
at the picture under 'Variations'.

This is a Climber with long nail file. I know a seller that still has them in switzerland :-)
