Anyone know about notary?
on: August 13, 2013, 07:58:34 AM
My wife's been after me to find some info, and who better to ask, cause I can't find anything she asking about. So I just figured with soon to be 5000 members on here, someone's gotta work for or know about them? Thanks JR

Can't help sorry, but I do have to go to the Italian Consulate here to have my signature notarized for the Italian Government.  Not sure how soon work is sending me, so you'll probably get a helpful answer from someone elses in the mean time.  :D

Not sure what you mean, but I'll try to help. A notary is just a witness who certifies that you are who you say you are and your signature on a document is valid. If you need something notarized, your best option is usually to go to your bank. Most banks will notarize documents for a small fee. Bring the document with you unsigned, along with your ID. They will check your ID and watch you sign the document, then stamp it for you.

Many lawyers are also notaries, or have notaries working for them, since a lot of legal documents are not valid unless they are notarized (wills, deeds transferring property, etc.).
