OMG OMG OMG I am getting a LM GENUS!!!

Thanks to some patient waiting, a couple of WIDELY cast nets and one fearless multitool hunter, I am FINALLY getting my green thumbs on a LM Genus!

The blade needs replacing says Bruce909 but I can replace it with even Better Felco pruner blades from Lee Valley.

I am so happy, I am going to put this baby to good use and possible mod the internal handle tools!!

I am one VERY happy multi-dude!!!

I am going to kick its butt. It'll live in a custom Skinth. I will want to make some new blades and stuff for the tools, the locking notch are from a Supertool 300.

Nice tool to get! There was a Leatherman Vista at my local True Value recently and I stupidly didn't buy it

Unless LM somehow makes a shear based MT that can also travel through time, make me a smoothie and teach my dogs how to eat from martini glasses.

Whoa...the Felco blade is something else. Look how close it can cut paper.

I tried to dissemble the genus and already it's rearing its anodized head.

Looks like I'll be able to send at least one part in for cerakote: the handle without the tools in it. The other half has a riveted anvil, pressed pivots and locked down screws hardware. Might be too much to mask etc. I'll wait till summer is over when I need to store this Reaper before sending it in.

As for inside tools, I think a bit driver from a Surge, a SE from a Supertool 300, an awl and keep the saw. Remove the spacers for thinner washers.

I've already added a washer to the main pivot bolt since it lacked one.

And wet sanded the anvil back side to 400/800.

I'll tackle the rest tonite.

It also fits in the Skinth Quick Draw like it was made for it

Now that I think about it, I may take out the saw and swap in a blade exchanger from a ST300 EOD, so I can put hack saw blades in.

I already carry a really great saw on the MUT that I will use along side the Reaper.

Massaged the blade exchanger from st300 EOD also the SE, the bit driver and awl from a Surge. Not entirely sure of this load out yet, but I am in love.

Tasted its first branches today, 3/4" no problem. The blade just barely rubs against the entire length of the anvil, such a great precision cut, rivaled only by Felcos.

No idea! Low sales? Everyone that owns one adores them so I don't get it. I paid much too much for mine but I also am likely to use it for the rest of my life. Maybe it wasn't cost effective.

The only things that aren't replaceable are the anvil (while can be resurfaced easily) and the chassis, which is incredibly well made.

This doesn't FEEL like a Leatherman, it feels more like a dedicated tool than a MT.

i guess low sales is of course a very deciding factor, but i cry inside. i wasn't even aware of a shear-based multitool as anything but a poorly made novelty until this board. now i yearn for one, or two. several.

i do really need a good shear-based gardening tool now that i live somewhere i can do some serious yard-farming. big tool storage is not a problem for me but the way my yard is set up i've got to store the big stuff inconveniently to the more attention-needing area, and i don't always want to go unlock the shed and get something out to do some pruning and cleaning up. i'm working on a mod, but that could take some time. metro, your 'arborman' is inspiring.

i'm going to keep looking for a genus (hope springs eternal), but in the meantime is there anything awesome and available anyone recommends?
