Looseness in Super Tool 300
on: July 22, 2013, 10:11:47 PM
Hey all,

I had purchased a BO Super Tool 300 brand new a little while ago. I had noticed that when the tool is in the closed position there the handles seem to be loose. To be more specific the handles open up fairly easy for about a centimetre from the closed position, after which they have the normal opening resistance. Secondly when the tool is closed the two handles would move up and down from each other. To put it another way to move against the pivots for a couple millimetres.

I was just wondering if this was the norm seeing as my Rebar, Wave, Skeletool, and Micra don't suffer from this.

First off welcome to the forum :tu: Try to tighten the screws at the plier piviot. My ST300 became real loose over time with lots of use. I used other Multi tool pliers to snug them up. If you have other MT's like LM squirts or style ps they work well on the funky leatherman screws. Or other small or large dedicated pliers will work. I have a LM Kick that came out of the box like you described. Easy fix. Heres an old thread that could help

Thanks for that. Was able to tighten it up by grabbing one side of the screw/bolt with the Skeletool and the other with the Wave. Although it didn't make the problem go away it did minimize it.

I have let my ST300 get loose enough to use it balisong style. If your into that. You can always call LM customer service and see what they have to say. Or just send it back to them for a replacement. Ive used the LM warranty department once for a broken flat driver on a mini tool. They replaced the driver and even resharpened the blade for me. No questions asked and had a pretty fast turnaround getting the tool back.

Their warranty is unbelievable. One time I over torqued a Crunch trying to unscrew a rusted hose from a spigot. I really munched it. It got it off, but the Crunch screw didn't turn anymore.  :D

Just mailed it in, and presto! New tool!
