Looking for high quality light multitool.

I'm in the market for a light multitool to replace my SOG power assist.  I require needle nose pliers,  a blade accessible with the tool closed,  Philips/flathead bits and a bottle opener.  I've been looking at the Skeletool CX,  is this my best option?  Lighter the better!

I love my Skeletool  but some find its an acquired taste so it might be worth going along to a bricks and mortar shop to see how it feels in your hand......

Now we wait for the next ten differing options

I really like my Skeletool, too. For a cheaper option, you could also have a look at the Gerber Octane, more or less the same tools, with a super-addictive sliding plier head

Gerber Octane is my choice in this kind of lightweight bracket.  As always though it really is best to try and hold them yourself, personal taste plays a big factor here.

The Juice line (particularly the S2) might work for you.

It's a little lighter, and a good deal shorter. Not a one hand open blade, though, if that matters.

Skeletool has all those things on your wishlist (and pretty much nothing else). I don't own any other Leathermans but have read on this forum that it is one of their better-quality multitools. I am careful about what I use the pliers of mine on though....
It's also nice to look at, if nothing else.

When it comes to smaller tools, experience trying them out first hand is important IMO. I bought a Skeletool without handling it, and traded it within 3 weeks.  In this family of tools, my favorite is the Gerber Octane.

How small do you want to go? Needle nose pliers are not very common in Multitools but the LM Squirt line has some small pliers that can be used reasonably efficiently, if you do not require a larger tool .

Also, if you are used to the cutting force multiplication of the SOG then your only option may be to get another SOG, if you are just replacing it because it is damaged.

Additionally, have a look at the CRKT models. The small CRKT Zillatools have what you want and small thin pliers and also take bits.

Finally maybe if you do not need heavy duty pliers you can look at what Wenger and victorinox Swiss army knife pliers tools (both proper and small pliers models , like the Ranger, Cybertool etc.) can offer you.

Skeletool is another one, but have different load factor if plier is needed ..my 2c..hee..

SOG PPP is might be another one to go on plier power..
No Gerber yet to mention on personal feedback on usage.

Agreed with the Juice S2 recommendation. At 4.5 ounces, it’s about the weight of a 4-5 layer SAK.

The Juice can do all  what you are asking, but don’t expect the can opener to work very well.. if at all. You’re good to go if you’re only concerned about opening bottles. That said, the pliers and the screwdrivers on the Juice should work very well for you

I own and have carried at some point or another the Skeletool, Octane, and PPP.

Skeletool - well made, but I feel like it is too heavy for how limited the tool selection is - plus the pliers are questionable, are not needle-nosey, and the wire cutter is tiny. Also, it is slightly longer than the Wave, and is pretty thick for pocket carry, IMO. The bit driver is nice, but being integrated into the short handle requires the entire tool to be opened to use it: LAME-O

Octane - slightly lighter and thinner than the Skeletool, but very wide from safe-t-lock to safe-t-lock. Does not feel as solid but I never feel like anything is going to fail. More capability than the Skeletool. The pliers are great and have a nice size cutter, although they self deploy. The knife is great. The Philips driver SUCKS and really undermines a good tool otherwise.

PPP - A LOT more capability for the same weight as the Skeletool and Octane and in a more compact package. The best pliers I have used on a MT - very fine tip on the pliers, a good size wire cutter, and compound leverage  . No OHO components besides pliers, and needs a pocket clip.

I would look at the Rebar or Fuse!  Both way cheaper than the Skeletool CX version!

So I have a Skeletool and love the simplicity of the tool but the PPP while not having outside accessible blade is a great little MT as well.  the needle nose are longer an pointier that the Skele, they also slant/skew a bit which really helps by keeping my hand out of the way when grabbing.   

Skele has a clip and the PPP has a great little sheath or can be slipped into a pocket.  the compound leverage really "feels" like it can handle anything tho admittedly I cant say how much more tuff these are than the Skele.

I like both but if an outside accessible blade is a must then the skele is a great option.

Agreed.  I carry models from the Squirt line on occasion, and they are extremely capable for their size.

I know it's not exactly what you listed as requirements, but considered the LM Crunch? It's very light and has a hex bit driver to boot. I absolutely love mine.
